Chevron’s Commitment to China

Posted by admin in Politics News

A few days after a terrible earthquake struck China last May, Chevron Corporation, one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies, pledged to donate $1.4 million to the country’s ill-fated victims. The relief fund is aimed at extending assistance to families and individuals who have been displaced by the tragedy. Chevron’s humanitarian effort is a result of the company’s deep concern for the welfare of China’s local communities. Part of the reason for Chevron’s fervent commitment to the cause is the company’s interest in the Chuadongbei gas project located in Sichuan Province, which was where the earthquake struck last May 12. The company conducts business in different parts of the world by aiding various nations with their energy-related needs. It is expected of a global company like Chevron to be obligated not only to its employees but more importantly, to all parties responsible for its growth and success. Chevron’s commitment to China can also be viewed as part of the company’s assurance of extending excellent services to their subsidiaries and clients. Whether carried out with profit-earning interests or not, Chevron’s 10 million Yuan will definitely make a big difference in the lives of China’s earthquake victims.
