Holidays for the Environmentally Minded Traveler

Countless snowboarders will presently be trying to find their salopettes and dashing forth hunting for the largest snow conditions. And doubtless the results from your carbon footprint will be about as far down the list of holiday musts as a Christmas tree after Christmas. Only last winter, a late snow made the the tabloids and tourists were frightened about the flakes of snow disappearing almost as soon as they landed.

Snowboarding business Chalet 1802, located at the bottom of Monte Bianco in Chamonix in the French Alps, is one of the first autonomous firms to go carbon neutral and offer skiers an environmentally friendly alternative while organising their ski vacations. Chalet 1802 founder Caswallan stated: Last year was a bit of a shock with the most warm wintertime in 60 years in the French Alps. Snowboarding ski fields such as Hautacam, Les Houches and Val Cenis suffered. It was balmy and the snow didnt last so a lot of the early snowboarding season in the mountains was limited. We chose to go carbon neutral to assist in the preservation the ski resort.

Caswallan said: We’re not seeking to dictate to guests but I think it is of import to afford the clients the alternative without augmenting the cost of the stay. When they book with us and vacations in our skiing chalet they can further off set their carbon footprint and we soak up the other costs. Naturally we still have a sauna and a hot tub - customers desire opulence but not at the expense of the surroundings, so we viewed methods of lessening the affect of a client traveling over here for a snowboarding holiday.”

Chalet 1802 have also linked up with organisation Climate Care, who attacks climate change by providing C02 reductions on behalf of people and companies.
